UPCOMING – Richard Clements: Cloister

May 16, 2024 – July 19, 2024

Exhibition Details

Richard Clements is a Calgary/Mohkinstsis based artist working primarily in sculpture. His work is concerned with structural affinities between perception – as guided by language and mathematics – and our manifested, cultural world. Cloister examines medieval architecture, contemporary currency, ancient form line, taxonomies, and archetypal symbols and how these – in mirroring our thought – calcify our shared hegemonic beliefs. In collaboration with the Curator of Numismatics, Marina Fischer, the artist has selected artifacts from the coin collection to show alongside a series of related works and studies.

Curated by Marina Fischer, Nickle Galleries Curator of Numismatics
