Event Details

Through artifacts and archives featured in To Oldman River: New additions to UCalgary’s Military Collection, an exhibition at UCalgary’s Founders’ Gallery at The Military Museums (opens October 29), Jason Nisenson will discuss some of Alberta’s most celebrated military personalities, including Sir Sam Steele, Fred Bagley and Wilfrid Reid May.

A major theme of the talk will be the role of the North-West Mounted Police in the development of a national military. He will also have a sneak peek at material that, for reasons of space, was not able to make its way into the exhibition.

Jason Nisenson is an archivist with Libraries and Cultural Resources at UCalgary’s Library and Archives at The Military Museums of Calgary.

This event will be held in-person at the Gallery Hall, adjacent to Nickle Galleries (ground floor of the Taylor Family Digital Library, University of Calgary) and by Zoom.

Meeting ID: 949 2548 5218
Passcode: Nickle

Free and open to all!
