In Real Life Cowboys: Investigating New Forms of Representations of Cowboy and Rodeo Culture, Jean-René Leblanc will discuss how his research is contributing to the creation of new artworks about the ways that contestants understand their cowboy gender identity.

University of Calgary digital arts associate professor Jean-René Leblanc PhD, is engaged in a 3-year research creation project that will investigate the diverse models of masculinity operating within contemporary cowboy culture, with a focus on rodeo contestants in southern Alberta, Canada.
