Since 2003 Nickle Galleries has been home to an important and growing collection of carpets and textiles.  Mainly from Asia, selections are regularly exhibited and used to support research, teaching, and enjoyment.  Like any collection, the Nickle’s carpet collection is a site for multi-authored stories—told by the makers, users, collectors and donors as well as curators and audience members. This story will introduce the collection and respond to visitors typical questions about the oldest, the youngest, the best, etc. In other words, it will examine Nickle Galleries’ carpet and textile greatest hits and the colourful stories they provoke.

Michele Hardy, Curator, studied textiles and cultural anthropology before joining Nickle Galleries in 2005.
